Accepting Donations with Exp:resso Store

Written by: Justin Long | On: April 12, 2013 | Permalink

Over the last couple of weeks I have seen a few people asking about accepting donations or user defined prices while using Exp:resso Store. As of version 1.6.3 Store does not have a tag or product type that allows a user specify the price of a product on the front-end but you can easily recreate the functionality if you need to.

Building an E-Commerce Site with ExpressionEngine & Exp:resso Store

Written by: Justin Long | On: August 4, 2012 | Permalink

One of the most requested features I get when I am building a site for a business is the ability to sell their products online. Luckily ExpressionEngine (my CMS of choice) gives me a great starting point to build a powerful store for my clients. EE has a vibrant third-party add-on community that has built some amazing add-ons to expand ExpressionEngine's core functionality. As I am writing this there are currently 4 e-commerce related add-ons. Membrr, CartThrob, Brilliant Retail and the one that I am going to focus this series on Store by Exp:resso. Each of the add-ons have a unique set of features and limitations so you will want to evaluate your project before you decide. The team at Exp:resso have developed a great comparison guide that can be found here.

CartThrob has finally released CartThrob2 for ExpressionEngine2. CartThrob is a powerful e-commerce solution that allows for you to store all of your products, orders and purchase history in channels allowing you to truly leverage ExpressionEngines flexibility and powerful template engine. It is currently in a Public Beta but I can say that during the private beta period I was testing and it was very stable. It is currently $99 and the price will go up to $150 when it leaves Beta in May.
